The Karl Amadeus Hartmann Society / Hartmann Center mourns the death of its founding member Friedrich Cerha. The important Austrian composer and conductor died on 14 February in his hometown of Vienna just a few days before his 97th birthday. Cerha was a lifelong advocate of the performance of New Music and in 1958 he co-founded the Viennese ensemble “die reihe”, which under his baton gave international performances of the works of the Viennese School in particular.

The Karl Amadeus Hartmann Society / Hartmann Center will always honour the memory of Friedrich Cerha.
