ensemble hartmann21 was founded in 2017, making it one of Munich’s youngest ensembles dedicated primarily to contemporary music. It defines itself as the “Ensemble in Residence” of the Karl Amadeus Hartmann Society. As part of the “hartmann21” concert series of the same name, the collective of young musicians performs at the “#Listen#Out” concerts, which have been a permanent fixture in the society’s concert hall since 2018. The ensemble is represented by Andreas H\u00e9rm Baumgartner, the artistic director and director of the society and concert series, and continues to develop artistically. The instrumentalists from France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Great Britain, Japan and South Korea, who have won numerous awards at competitions, have a wealth of chamber music experience in various formations and ensembles. The ensemble hartmann21 regularly receives valuable impulses through collaborations with great composers and personalities; most recently with Helmut Lachenmann, Peter E\u00f6tv\u00f6s and Mark Andre. In addition to the standard works of the 20th and 21st centuries, their repertoire also includes world premieres of works by young composers commissioned by the ensemble.<\/p>\n

This means that at least one world premiere is guaranteed in every concert. In order to emphasise the diversity of contemporary music, the ensemble experiments with new sound formations and also creates interdisciplinary projects. In addition, ensemble hartmann21 regularly performs as guest artists at other concert series and festivals.<\/p>\n
