To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the liberation from Nazi fascism, Karl Amadeus Hartmann’s Miserae will be performed in Lisbon on 5 September 2025. The four-part concert will also feature compositions by Hindemith, Zemlinsky, Eisler, Ullmann and Prokofiev. The Sinfonietta de Lisboa will perform under the baton of Vasco Pearce de Azevedo. Karl Amadeus Hartmann’s Concerto funebre will be performed on 5 October 2025 as part of the Osnabrück concert series musica pro pace. The concert will take place at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of Osnabrück Castle/University. The Osnabrück Symphony Orchestra will perform under the baton of its new music director, Christopher Lichtenstein. The solo part will be played by concertmaster Dainis Medjaniks. The programme will also include Pavel Haas’s Study for String Orchestra and Arthur Honegger’s Symphony No. 2. The concert will be presented by Stefan Hanheide, professor at the Institute for Musicology and Music Education at the University of Osnabrück.

Karl Amadeus Hartmann’s “Concerto funebre” with Kopatchinskaja, Petrenko and Berliner Philharmoniker in the Digital Concert Hall

In September 2021 Patricia Kopatchinskaja (violin) interpreted Karl Amadeus Hartmann’s violin concerto “Concerto funebre” with the Berliner Philharmoniker under the baton of our honorary member Kirill Petrenko. The live recording of the acclaimed concerts can now be heard in the Digital Concert Hall. The recording is supplemented by interviews with the performers.
