GERMAN NEWS SERVICE – Bitte um Einreise von Bruder Richards Gattin aus der Schweiz

1945, 16.12.

1st Lt. Klinger, Military Government, Wasserburg

Dear Lt. Klinger,

The bearer of this letter MR. RICHARD HARTMANN belongs to one of Munich’s leading anti-Nazi family whose members are also leaders in the city’s cultural life. One brother is an internationally known composer, another a painter.

At the time the undersigned was an Intelligence Sgt. in Munich he had frequent occasion to meet the Hartmans and found them of anvaliable aid in the performance of his duties.

Mr. RICHARD HARTMANN’S wife has been given permission to leave her residence in Switzerland to join her husband here in Munich. Mr. Hartmann has explained to me that a permit is required from you so that he can fetch her at the border.

It would be deeply apperciated if such a permission were granted to Mr. Hartmann who is supremely deserving of it.

SALVATOR ATTANASIO, Asst Chief DANA MUNICH BURO German News Service.
